Valentine Blessing Feb 5, 2013: Do you bless your meals?

Sparrow 247x300I can remember it was always my Dad you said grace before every evening meal. He would say, “Bless oh Lord, this food to our use and us to thy service and keep us ever mindful of the needs of others”. When we were young girls my parents taught me and my sister the following: Thank you Lord for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for the birds that sing thank you God for everything.” I’m having so much fun teaching my grandchildren this same Blessing. We throw our hands high in the air when we finish with “everything”.

My dear friend G W Harding taught me the Blessing from the angels at a workshop, “As a child of God, I bless this water that it may nourish my soul and enrich my body.” When the entire class could taste the difference between the blessed and the unblessed water, G W said, “The angelic realm wants us to bless everything that goes into our bodies. Our bodies need it.”

These are all a little different but they all come from a place of gratitude. Our every act and every thought are intentional. Now, having said all of this, I still forget to say my blessing before every meal. That’s why I need constant reminders in my life . . . not to eat, but to bless my meals.
